Since the Summer there have been a number of changes in the school. An extension has been built on to one of our classrooms and the bike shelter has been installed. We're looking forward to seeing pupils cycling to school.

We recently got a polytunnel in the school. We will be looking for parents to come and help build our raised beds and prepare them for planting. No experience required.
Westmeath GAA and Ballymore GAA are running fundraisers at the moment, which encourage activity and seeing as the pupils and staff here in Scoil Eoin Naofa are such active people we decided we'd get involved. Everyone had great fun doing exercises for two great causes.
To celebrate St. Patrick's day, we held a lá glas in school. We marked the occasion by having a socially distance parade so everyone could show off their green outfits. We were then treated to some Irish dancing, singing and wonderful music performed by the students. Science week was a great success in the school this year with lots of interesting investigations and exciting experiments happening throughout the school. No doubt we have a lots of pupils who will make terrific scientists. Here is a taste of some of the fun we had.
Our Amber Flag arrived two weeks ago!!! You may have seen it flying proudly outside our school in recent weeks. It has since retreated inside the school out of the harsh weather conditions and is now on display on our Amber flag notice board! What an achievement!
This year, due to Covid-19, the Christmas Shoebox Appeal is being ran slightly different. It is not possible to send gift-filled parcels from Ireland, so instead you can build your shoebox and donate it online @ https://www.teamhope.ie/christmas-shoebox-appeal/. Here in Scoil Eoin Naofa, we did our part by having a jersey day.
All donations will be used to purchase shoeboxes which will be sent to children affected by poverty. It was great to see lots of colour around the school and everyone had great fun. Thanks for all your kind donations. We are going to be learning about a new native Irish animal every week in 1st and 2nd class. This week we learned about foxes. We learned lots of new interesting facts and did some Art to go along with it.
We have been reading lots of books since we came back to school. One of the books that we have read is, 'The Magic Moment' by Niall Breslin or Bressie as you might know him by! We have been using the poem in the story as a mindfulness technique to help us explore difficult emotions. We made some pictures and wrote about magic moments of our own then! |
