Junior and Senior Infants have been busy learning all about the work of the vet for the past few weeks. What is a vet? A vet is an animal doctor, he/she takes care of our animals. Why do we take our animals there? We take our animals to the vet if they are sick or hurt. Sometimes our animals are sick. Sometimes they are hurt and they need an x-ray to check if they have any broken bones. Sometimes they need their vaccinations. What happens when we go there? The vet examines our pets and tells us what is wrong with them. The vet might have to take an x-ray and might have to give medicine to our pets. When we are at the vet, the pets usually go a bit crazy, sometimes they are just excited and sometimes they may be scared. We learned lots of new information and we had lots of fun also. In the pretend play corner, the children took on roles such as vet, receptionist, pet owner and, in some cases, animals and really got involved in the play. The animals came to school to be seen by the vets at play time and some children also brought in shoe boxes that they used as beds for the sick animals. We were busy painting fishbowls and building veterinary clinics for all the sick animals in the construction area.
In small world we enjoyed playing with all the animals and bringing them to see the vet. We also got to work on the laptops at one of our stations. We had so much fun playing together!

There was great excitement and plenty of smiles as 14 new children started Scoil Eoin Naofa on 26th August. Wishing them a very happy and fun filled year ahead!! Our 18 Senior Infants helped them to settle into their new classroom. Everyone was so happy to meet their friends again and there were lots of stories told!
